Attendance

A parent/guardian has three days to clear an absence. If the absence is not cleared with appropriate documentation, it remains on the student's record as a cut/truant. 

Absence reasons are as follows:
  1. Disaster - Natural and/or local disasters such as fire, earthquake, or pandemic flu.
  2. Medical, dental, optometric or chiropractic services rendered
  3. Illness
  4. Justifiable personal reasons, which include family emergencies (per board policy and Education Code 48205), including, but not limited to:
    • an appearance in court
    • attendance at a funeral service (if service is within California, one day excused; outside of California, three days excused)
    • observance of a holiday or ceremony of the pupil’s religion
    • attendance at religious retreats
    • attendance at an employment conference, or
    • attendance at an educational conference on the legislative or judicial process offered by a nonprofit organization when the pupil’s absence is requested in writing by the parent or guardian and approved by the principal or a designated representative pursuant to uniform standards established by the governing board
    • pupil/family hardship situation, as authorized by the principal
Excusing an Absence

To excuse an absence, please provide the following information to the attendance office:

  • Student name (please do not use nicknames)
  • Grade
  • Date of birth
  • Days absent
  • Reason for absence
  • Parent/guardian name
  • Parent/guardian phone number
